Sarah is feeling creative!
About Me
-
Describe Yourself:I have always been a person who has a strong love for being creative. With three big passions in my life including music, writing and photography. I have also enjoyed other creative activities as well, including working on building, designing and maintaining websites.
For starts probably the strongest passion I have a love for, would be music. After growing up with a father in the radio business, and with a mother who used to be in a country music band. I grew to appreciate a large variety of music. A music career is something of a dream for me. I have always dreamed to record and album, of my own original songs and perform my music on a stage. I have had this dream for as long as I can remember. This dream however, became more clear to me back in October of 1998 when myself and 15 other kids in my 8th grade choir class, got to sing back up to the song "Summer In The Sand Box", for the band Domest Problems, at the State Theater in Kalamazoo, Michigan. There was roughly 15,000 people in the audience, and I still remember every last nerve I had before going on stage. I also remember the nerves just disappearing as I stepped on stage and took my place with the other kids. At that moment, I knew for certain music was something I wanted to pursue.
When I was about 16 years old, I got brave enough to record a couple accapella clips using a cheap computer microphone. I wrote out lyrics, praticed how I wanted to sign the songs out, and waited until no one was around to record my clips of music. At that point in my life I had started my very own yahoo group. I decided at the time to use an old nickname I had recieved, "Scorpio", and called myself "Scorpio McSib". Starting that yahoo group, look back, was such a silly thing. However, I still feel it was a time of learning for me. I had several people join my group, and give me support. I was apart of many unsigned artists groups on yahoo, including one for a group called Long Distance. A duo girl group, who held their own "online awards", where they gave little graphics for people who won, to put on their sites. The only year, I was around when they did it, I won their "Best New Artist" award. I worked hard at that point to promote myself online. I practiced singing as often as I could.
I went through a lot of changes during the coarse of time, with my yahoo group. A couple times, I changed my name from Scorpio Mcsib, back to my real name "Sarah" and for awhile I used my real last name. I didn't like using it though. I felt something else was missing from who I am, so I went back to using the last name "McSib". McSib is a combination of my mother's maiden name, and my father's last name. I wanted to feel like I could identify with both sides of my family. Since then, I have gone by "Sarah McSib" in everything I do.
After a year and half of having my own yahoo group, I decided to say goodbye to my supporters and start a new chapter in my life. Music was a dream, that has never died with me. I just felt at the time, I had nothing to show for my passion. Someday I will, and at that time, I will again pursue my goals in music.
Aside from the music, I have been writing since I was about 10 or 11 years old. Whether it was poems, songs, short stories or scripts for plays. I was always writing something. It became a strong outlet (along with the music), for me to feel I could breathe and express myself. Whether it was something I was writing just for me, or for someone else to read. I have watched my family face a lot of hard times during my life time. Writing was always something I felt I could do, to release the sadness, anger, happiness and any other emotion I feel.
Since the age of 14, I have been working on writing my first book. It's been an on and off project, as I find myself going into different directions with it. I am hoping to finish it within the next couple of years. I enjoy taking my time with this book, as much as I want to get it finished. Writing a book is a big goal for me, and something I want to do right. So I have been taking my time, carefully putting together the story that was inspired by my nightmares. I don't feel, now is the time to go into it, so I apologize now, if I have confused anyone.
Beside the music and writing, I am currently learning digital photography. I have always admired photography, film and digital. My Grandfather (on my dad's side) was heavily into photography, and I even have a few original pieces of his work, that I hold dear.
I do not attend classes for photography of any kind. I am buying books on digital photography, as often as I can, and studying them. I am also just taking my HP PhotoSmart 735 digital camera out, and shooting every chance I get! I am thankful to a handful of professional photographers who have kept in contact with me, and help guide and critic me as I continue down my learning path. Eventually, I do plan to take a course or two in the field, but for now I will do what I can, on my own.
